The D-Day Squadron, a division of the Tunison Foundation, is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization. In 2024, the Squadron led its Legacy Tour, commemorating the 80th anniversary of D-Day and the 75th anniversary of the Berlin Airlift with a fleet of restored C-47 World War II military aircraft. Building on its historic 2019 mission, the program continues to support its flying display and educational outreach initiatives.
The Squadron’s ‘living history’ program shares the story of the citizen soldier with audiences at airshows and events, both on and off the flight line, honoring their bravery and ensuring their legacy endures. Through its efforts, including flyovers and paratroop missions, the Squadron inspires appreciation for history among all generations. Funded through the generous tax-deductible contributions of its supporters, the Squadron unites vintage DC-3s, their crews, and youth worldwide, using these flying museums as a powerful educational platform.
